Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Nijjar, the last witness in the Sukha Kahlwan murder case, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Dhilwan in Kapurthala district. He was alone in his car when gunmen approached and fired from the front, fatally hitting him in the chest. Nijjar, known to be close to Kahlwan, had reportedly been warned about threats due to his role in the case. A social media post later claimed that Doni Bal and his associates were responsible for the killing, alleging it was in retaliation for Nijjar’s links with the Lawrence gang, his reaction to Sidhu Moosewala’s murder, and his alleged support to rival criminals. |

Two persons, identified as Kashmir Singh and Jugraj Singh, were
shot dead while another person was injured after unidentified assailants opened
fire at them in Bhoma village in Batala, Gurdaspur district. According to
police, preliminary investigations revealed that the attackers fired
indiscriminately at the three youths while they were walking through the
village. Two died on the spot, while the third victim, Jugraj Singh sustained
serious bullet injuries. Later, on May 13, three operatives linked to
foreign-based fugitive gangster Happy Jatt were arrested near the Indo-Bhutan
border in West Bengal while allegedly trying to flee to Bhutan. The trio is

clinic in Shahpur village, Amloh subdivision, Fatehgarh Sahib district, on

with kirpans and iron rods, assaulted both victims, and fled the spot, leaving

Aadmi Party (AAP) sarpanch (village head), Harbarinder Singh, was shot
dead and his relative, Jermandeep Singh, injured when armed assailants opened
fire during a wedding ceremony at Sheron village in Tarn Taran district on
February 18. The sarpanch, an agriculturist and commission agent, had attended
a relative’s wedding at Sidhu Farms when three men arrived on a motorcycle and
opened fire, shooting both him and his relative. Senior Superintendent of
Police (SSP) Surendra Lamba stated that the incident did not appear to be
linked to gangster activity, as no extortion calls had been received by the
deceased. He indicated that personal enmity could be the motive behind the
attack. |

CCTV footage shows one of the attackers approaching Oberoi's vehicle parked outside the gurdwara and firing multiple shots at close range, hitting him in the chest and head. Both assailants were wearing black hoodies with their faces covered by shawls. After the attack, the two were seen fleeing the spot on an Activa scooter while speaking on a mobile phone. Sources said he received a call in 2024 demanding INR 50 lakh, and was shot in the leg a few days later.
