Around 250 Sikh pilgrims crossed into Pakistan via the Kartarpur Corridor on April 24 to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Dera Baba Nanak. Despite India’s stringent measures against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack—including the closure of the Attari Integrated Check Post (ICP)—the Dera Baba Nanak ICP remained operational.

According to police sources, starting April 24, people-to-people interaction at the Sadqi border in Punjab’s Fazilka district will be suspended as part of India’s diplomatic response to the Pahalgam terror attack. While the daily retreat ceremony will continue, spectators must return to the stands immediately afterward. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on April 24 conducted raids at 18 locations in connection with a case involving Pakistan-backed cross-border smuggling of arms and narcotics by Khalistani operatives, seizing various electronic devices and other incriminating materials across Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Karnataka.

The District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) of Srinagar on April 23 opened local gurdwaras to shelter tourists stranded after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). Free meals, lodging, and transport were provided through the Sikh community’s langar tradition. DGPC president Jaspal Singh assured visitors of their safety and condemned the attack as a “heinous act against humanity.” A candlelight march was also held to express solidarity and demand justice.

According to sources, a fresh detention order spanning nearly 4,000 pages has been issued to extend the custody of Khalistani radical and Khadoor Sahib Member of Parliament (MP) Amritpal Singh under the National Security Act (NSA) by another year. The comprehensive dossier reportedly includes annexures and audio recordings allegedly linking him to criminal activities, including the October 2024 murder of YouTuber Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau. Authorities will provide a pen drive containing the recordings and a laptop for access while he remains in jail.

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) on April 23 arrested a long-absconding terrorist of the banned Khalistan Commando Force (KCF), identified as Mangat Singh alias Manga, from Timmbowal village in Amritsar district. Singh, the younger brother of slain KCF chief Sangat Singh, had been evading arrest for nearly 30 years and carried a cash reward of INR 25,000.

Khalistani terrorist and Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, in a video message on April 23, claimed that the recent deadly attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, was a false flag operation allegedly orchestrated by India's intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). He accused National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval of supervising the attack, with alleged backing from Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister (UHM) Amit Shah. Pannun further appealed to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to conduct a plebiscite in Kashmir.

Punjab Police, on April 23, on day 54 of its "Yudh Nashian Virudh" campaign, arrested 104 drug smugglers and recovered 3.4 kg of heroin, 1,671 kg of poppy husk, and INR 8.3 lakh in drug money from their possession across Punjab. With this, the total number of drug smugglers arrested has reached 7,187 in just 54 days.

Tarn Taran Police on April 23 busted a major weapon smuggling module and arrested two smugglers, identified as Sukhdev Singh alias Dev and Swarn Kumar alias Ghoda and seized one Glock 9 mm pistol, one PX5 .30 calibre pistol, seven live cartridges, and three empty shells from their possession in Sarai Amanat Khan, Tarn Taran district. Authorities revealed that both smugglers were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and were supplying arms to Tarn Taran and adjoining districts in Punjab.

Punjab Police, on April 22, as part of day 53 of its ongoing “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, arrested 76 drug smugglers and seized 3.5 kg of heroin, 1 kg of opium, and INR 1.09 lakh in drug money across the state. With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended under the campaign has reached 7,036 in just 53 days.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Gurwinder was operating under instructions from Gurlal Singh and Vipul Sharma, both based in the United States and identified as key handlers in the network.

Punjab Police on April 21 arrested two individuals, identified as Balkar Singh and Pawandeep Singh, and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Lakhdeep Singh Sardargarh, after uncovering a conspiracy to attack Union Home Minister (UHM) Amit Shah, Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, in Moga district. The plot was revealed through leaked screenshots of a WhatsApp group allegedly supporting radical Khalistani preacher and jailed Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who is currently lodged in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. The FIR has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and the Information Technology (IT) Act, as police probe suspected links to anti-national activities and foreign-funded conspiracies.
