Faridkot police have registered two separate cases after residents received extortion threats from callers claiming to be members of the Rohit Godara gang, in Faridkot district. The calls, reportedly made from international numbers, involved demands for money along with death threats. One complaint was filed by a Municipal Council driver, Chhaibar Singh, while the second case was lodged by a resident of the Green Avenue locality in Faridkot.

Ludhiana police have registered a case against notorious gangster Donny Bal after an extortion demand of INR 2 crore was allegedly made in his name from a local businessman, Jagjit Singh, in Ludhiana district. The victim reported receiving repeated WhatsApp threat calls, including one on January 17 in which the caller identified himself as Donny Bal and threatened to kill him if the demand was not met. Donny Bal is among the gangsters whose networks were recently targeted by Punjab Police under Operation Prahar.
