The Border Security Force (BSF) reported a record 16 drone recoveries along the International Border in Punjab between November 9 and 15, 2024, surpassing the previous weekly high of 10. These drones, primarily originating from Pakistan, were used to smuggle narcotics, weapons, and fake currency into India. During this period, the BSF seized approximately 16 kg of heroin, arrested two suspects, and conducted multiple operations in the Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Gurdaspur sectors to neutralize the drone threat. So far this year, 216 drones have been intercepted, double the total for 2023.

The Amritsar police on November 15 dismantled a trans-border narco-smuggling and arms cartel with the arrest of three individuals, Aditya Pratap alias Kaka, Shambhu Kabir and Muskan along with 8 kg of heroin, 6 kg of opium, 13.1 kg of chemicals used to enhance the quantity of contraband, and four pistols along with 17 cartridges from their possession at Kot Khalsa in Amritsar district. Aditya was arrested at Prem Nagar Road in Amritsar with two pistols and 13 live cartridges, leading to the recovery of 8 kg of heroin, 2 kg of chemicals, 6 kg of opium, and a Glock pistol. Shambhu was arrested at Guru Ki Wadali Road in Amritsar with 275 grams of heroin, 11.1 kg of chemicals, and a .32 bore pistol. Muskan was identified as the daughter of absconding racket kingpin Sunny.
