The BSF emphasized the need for preventive detention due to traditional smuggling routes exploiting dense fog, especially in bordering districts such as Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Fazilka. Punjab Police has been directed to take action under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1988.
