A former associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, identified as Inderpreet Singh alias Parry, was shot dead by unidentified assailants inside a car near the timber market in Sector 26, Chandigarh, on December 1. Police suspect the killing is linked to gang rivalry. Parry, who had over a dozen criminal cases against him and was once a henchman of the Bishnoi gang, sustained six to seven bullet injuries; one live cartridge was recovered from the scene. This is the first gangland shooting in Chandigarh since the October 10, 2020 killing of Gurlal Brar, cousin of Goldy Brar, allegedly by members of the Davinder Bambiha gang, in Industrial Area Phase-1. Soon after the killing, a Facebook post from the handle ‘Hari Boxer Aarzoo Bishnoi’ claimed responsibility. The post said a “new gang war” had begun and alleged that Parry had been extorting money from local clubs using the names of Goldy Brar or Rohit Godara. It also accused him of earlier targeting members of their group, including ‘Hari Bhai,’ and linked him to the killing of another associate, Sippa Bhai. Citing these motives, Aarzoo Bishnoi, Hari Boxer, Shubham Lonker, and Harman Sandhu claimed that Parry was eliminated in retaliation. Parry had recently begun working for the rival faction led by Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, both formerly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang before breaking away.
