Police on November 9 arrested two members of the Lucky Patial gang, identified as Jashanjit Singh and Arshjot, and seized a .30-bore pistol along with live cartridges from their possession in Mundi Kharar and Ballomajra in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district. According to police, the accused had fired shots at the Chandigarh residence of the owner of Regenta Place Hotel at TDI City, Sector 119, Mohali, on the intervening night of November 4 and 5.

Amid intense campaigning for the Tarn Taran Assembly by poll in Punjab, politicians have alleged that overseas gangsters and terrorist organizations have issued threats to them, while also accusing the Punjab Police of using strong-arm tactics to intimidate candidates. Following these allegations, the Election Commission (EC) suspended Tarn Taran Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal. The officer, however, maintained that all her actions were in accordance with the law. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, has been given additional charge as SSP, Tarn Taran.

Punjab Police on November 8 arrested two persons, identified as Bikramjit Singh alias Bikram and Karanbir Singh for their alleged links with the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) and involvement in the murder of Italy-based Malkeet Singh and seized a foreign-made .30 caliber PX5 pistol, another .30 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber pistol, a .32 caliber pistol, a revolver, and 20 cartridges from their possession, in Amritsar district. On November 1, the accused allegedly opened fire on Malkeet Singh while he was sowing wheat with his father in Dhariwal village, Amritsar district; he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Police said Bikramjit has a criminal record and was involved in the 2018 grenade attack on a religious place in Raja Sansi. Preliminary investigations revealed that, on the directions of his foreign handlers, he had procured illegal weapons from across the border to carry out crimes in Punjab.

The Amritsar Commissionerate Police on November 7 arrested Gursevak Singh alias Sevak, an operative of a Pakistan-backed drug supply module, and seized 2 kg of ICE (methamphetamine) from him near Dana Mandi in Amritsar district. Police said Gursevak, a resident of a border area in Tarn Taran district, had been in regular contact with a Pakistani smuggler through encrypted communication platforms and acted as a courier, collecting consignments at pre-decided locations and delivering them within Punjab under his handler’s directions.

According to sources, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) continues to investigate the role of 11 absconding accused in the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-sponsored rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack on the Qila Lal Singh police station in Batala, Gurdaspur district, Punjab, on April 6, 2025. So far, no Blue or Red Corner Notice has been issued against them. Foreign-based BKI handlers—Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia, Mannu Agwan, and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Navasherian—had publicly claimed responsibility for the attack and are among the absconders. Investigators confirmed that the probe against these 11 individuals is still ongoing.

The Chandigarh Crime Branch busted two inter-state drug syndicates operating across the Tricity and neighbouring states, arresting 12 accused and seizing 1.2 kg of cocaine, 476 g of heroin, 2 g of ICE, nearly INR 26 lakh in drug money, gold and silver jewellery, a note-counting machine, six QR-code scanners, and five vehicles in two operations on November 7 and 19, in Chandigarh. Investigations revealed that both syndicates ran multi-layered supply chains across Chandigarh, Delhi, Zirakpur, and Punjab, sourcing cocaine and synthetic drugs from Delhi-based suppliers — some linked to African nationals — and distributing them through low-level peddlers. The groups used sophisticated techniques such as milestone drop-points, third-party UPI accounts, QR-code scanners, and segregated courier-style deliveries to evade surveillance and avoid direct buyer contact.
