The Ferozepur police on August 31 conducted a search operation and seized 1.28 kg of heroin from Bare ke village in Ferozepur district.
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff of the Ferozepur police on August 31 arrested four individuals identified as Gurbhej Singh alias Bheja, Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh, Paramjit Singh alias Pamma, and Surjit Singh, and seized 20 grams of heroin along with INR 14.80 lakh in drug money from their possession at a naka (checkpoint) in Zira, Ferozepur district.
Police on August 29 arrested notorious drug smuggler and member of the Kannu Gujjar gang, Naveen Kumar alias Kaka, and seized 1 kg of heroin from his possession in Lajpat Nagar, Jalandhar district. His two accomplices, identified as Vikram alias Nihang Baba and Kali, escaped after a violent gunfight with the police. The suspects are believed to be connected to an international drug network with links to Pakistan. Police are actively pursuing leads to capture the remaining fugitives.
Fazilka police on August 29 arrested a person, identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gogi and seized 530 grams of heroin, three live cartridges, and three mobile phones from his possession in Jalalabad, Fazilka district. His accomplice, identified as Sukhwinder Singh, managed to flee.
The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate on August 29 arrested four smugglers, identified as Sunny Vehmi, Honey Kalyan, Money Sabharwal, and Neeraj and seized 250 grams of heroin from their possession near Dass Pura in Jalandhar district.
Khalra police on August 28 arrested a drug peddler with cross-border contacts, identified as Kuljit Singh, and seized 255 grams of heroin from his possession in Khalra village, Patti, Tarn Taran district. The police discovered that he had smuggled the consignment across the border using contacts made via his mobile phone.
The Amritsar rural police on August 28 arrested a person identified as Angrej Singh and seized 507 grams of heroin from his possession in Bhindi Saida village, Ajnala, Amritsar district. Angrej was involved in cross-border drug peddling, utilizing methods such as drones. He had previously been convicted in 2018 for smuggling 3 kg of heroin and a pistol but was out on bail. He is also suspected of involvement in another drug case from earlier this year. Following his arrest, he was remanded for further interrogation.
Gharinda police on August 28 arrested an individual, identified as Manpreet Singh and seized 155 grams of ICE (methamphetamine) and INR 29,000 in drug money from his possession in Kiralgarh village, Amritsar district. During interrogation, Manpreet revealed that he had bought the drugs from Sonu of Naraingarh, who is currently being pursued by the police.
Police on August 28 arrested three members of an interstate smuggling gang, identified as Rajnesh, Satvir, and Dharambir, and seized 5 kg of opium from their possession in Fatehgarh Sahib in Fatehgarh Sahib district. The police stated that the smugglers were linked to Jharkhand-based operations, which involved shipping contraband into Punjab via couriers.
Police on August 28 arrested two drug smugglers, identified as Soma Singh and Amarjit Singh, and seized 300 grams of heroin from their possession in Fatehgarh Sahib in Fatehgarh Sahib district. The police stated that further investigation based on their interrogation will help trace their forward and backward links.
The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate on August 26 busted an interstate drug peddling racket, arresting two peddlers identified as Captain Singh and Mann Singh and seized 10.5 kg of opium and INR 4 lakh in drug money from their possession at Dakoha Fatak in Jalandhar district. Captain Singh had been arrested on July 23 with 3.5 kg of opium, and based on information provided by him during interrogation, Mann Singh was arrested on August 26 on the Jalandhar-Panipat highway with an additional 7 kg of opium. Both men were involved in transporting opium from Jharkhand to Jalandhar and have been remanded in police custody for five days.
Police on August 26 arrested two individuals, identified as Kaushal Lalla and Sunny Kumar, and seized 45 grams of heroin from their possession near Indira Nagari in Abohar, Fazilka district.
A City-1 police team on August 26 arrested an individual, identified as Nishan Singh and seized 52.79 grams of heroin and a bike from his possession near Seed Farm Colony in Abohar in Fazilka district.
Khuian Sarwar Police on August 26 arrested one person, identified as Balwinder Singh and seized 1.2 kg of opium from his possession, near Telupura village in Fazilka district.
The Crime Investigation Agency II (CIA) of Ludhiana Police Commissionerate, on August 25, following a tip-off, arrested an air-conditioner mechanic identified as Sooraj for drug peddling and seized 500 grams of heroin from his possession in Khasi Kalan village in Ludhiana East, Ludhiana district.
The Jalandhar (Rural) police on August 23 arrested three drug peddlers, identified as Gurcharan Singh alias Raju, Balwinder Singh alias Mota, and Gurpreet Singh alias Guri, and seized 225 grams of heroin, INR 1 lakh in drug money, along with their car (PB10-GL-4080) at a checkpoint near Adda village in Jalandhar district.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Ferozepur Police on August 20 arrested two drug smugglers, identified as Harpreet Singh and Ranjit Singh, and seized 500 grams of heroin along with a stolen motorcycle from their possession near Ferozepur in Ferozepur district. This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Ferozepur Police to combat drug trafficking in the region.
Police on August 19 arrested two drug smugglers, identified as Vishal and his brother Sonu, and seized 1.05 kg of heroin, INR 12.9 lakh in drug money, a country-made pistol, seven live rounds, and an SUV in Nawan Purba village in Ferozepur district. Vishal has a criminal history with multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and for attempted murder.
Punjab Police, in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF) on August 18, arrested three drug peddlers, identified as Gurmukh Singh, Harpreet Singh, and Sukhman Singh, and seized 14 small packets of contraband, two knives, two mobile phones, and a bike from their possession near the Saidogazi checkpoint in Anjala in Amritsar district. The suspects were handed over to Ajnala police, who registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are investigating further links to a drug syndicate.
Police Anti-Narcotic Cell on August 18 arrested an individual, identified as Gurdeep Singh alias Deepu and seized 15,000 Pregabalin 300 mg capsules along with a car from his possession in Abohar, Fazilka district.
Police on August 18 arrested a drug dealer, identified as Jaidev and seized 7,000 Pregabalin 300 mg capsules and 100 tablets of Tramadol from his possession in Nihal Khera village in Fazilka district. The police revealed that Jaidev used to sell drugs and intoxicant capsules under the guise of selling cotton cake and feed at his shop.
Border Security Force (BSF) troops on August 18 recovered a packet containing 500 grams of heroin from fields near Machhiwara village in Ferozepur district.
Police on August 17 arrested two people identified as Jassu Ram and Rawal Ram and seized 2.7 kg of opium from their possession on Moga-Dharamkot road near Dharamkot in Moga district. The suspects had arranged the drug deal through social media and were caught during a police patrol.
Punjab Police on August 17 arrested Gulab Singh, a key suspect wanted for the 77-kg heroin haul in 2023, in Deep Singh Wala village in Faridkot district. His arrest is expected to disrupt cross-border smuggling networks, as he was involved in delivering 36 kg of heroin and had connections with Pakistan-based smugglers.
The Border Security Force (BSF) on August 13 intercepted and recovered 538 grams of heroin along with a drone near Pacharian village in Ferozepur district. The recovered drone model was a China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic model.
