The Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with the Punjab Police on December 12 seized 1 kg of heroin along with a mini torch, a nylon rope, and a steel ring on the outskirts of Rattankhurd village in Amritsar district.
Punjab Police on December 12 busted a drug smuggling racket with the arrest of four persons identified as Vikramjeet Singh, Rashpal Singh, Gourav and Sahil Kumar, and seized 3 kg of heroin and INR 9 lakh and Innova car from their possession from Gol Bagh area of Amritsar district. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the entire network of drug suppliers, dealers, and buyers.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Headquarters, Sukhchain Singh Gill, revealed that in the past week, Punjab Police have arrested 302 drug smugglers and suppliers, registering 221 FIRs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including 34 for the possession of a commercial quantity of drugs. The arrests led to the recovery of 24.08 kg of heroin, 10 kg of opium, 1.57 quintals of poppy husk, and 1.05 lakh tablets/capsules/injections/vials of pharma opioids, along with INR 20.72 lakh in drug money. Additionally, the police have taken strict action against extortion calls, registering 130 FIRs and arresting 117 individuals involved in extortion, resulting in a decrease in such calls in the state. Awareness events against drugs have also been organized, with 175 events held to sensitize people about the ill effects of drugs.
The police on December 11 arrested six persons, identified as Aniket Talwara, Kartik Chinki, Varun, Sukhmandeep Singh, Gurkirat Singh, and Vikramjit Singh, and seized 51 grams of heroin, INR 70,000 in drug money, four weapons, and 14 cartridges from their possession near Bhai Chattar Singh Park in Ludhiana in Ludhiana district.

Amritsar Rural Police on December 10 busted a drug module being operated from Ferozepur jail, by arresting two individuals, identified as Bhupinder Singh and Rahul Singh, and seizing 1 kg of heroin, INR 32,000 in drug money, and three expensive mobile phones from their possession at BR Resort, located on the Amritsar-Attari bypass road near Khasa in Amritsar district. The investigation revealed that they were instructed by a jailed drug peddler named Prince to collect narcotics. Prince provided them with money and directions through Instagram.
The Amritsar City Police on December 10 arrested five individuals in separate incidents for allegedly possessing narcotic substances in Amritsar district. The arrested individuals were identified as Raju, who was found with 20 grams of heroin; Roop Singh and Gagandeep Singh, each arrested with 15 grams of heroin; Mandeep Singh, arrested with 20 grams of heroin; and Kamal Kishore, arrested with 50 grams of heroin in Amritsar.
Amritsar city Police on December 10 arrested an individual identified as Hasanpreet Singh and seized 180 grams of opium from his possession in Putlighar area in Amritsar district.
Police on December 9 arrested a smuggler identified as Deepak Kumar alias Kochar, and seized 5.020 kg of heroin from his possession at Aima Khurd village in Tarn Taran district. The smuggler is suspected to have collected the consignment brought from across the border using a drone.
The Border Security Force (BSF) in a joint operation with Punjab Police on December 9 recovered 520 grams of heroin along with a drone on the outskirts of Daoke village in Amritsar district. The recovered drone was a Quadcopter, DJI Mavic 3 classic, made in China.
In a joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Punjab Police on December 6 recovered one packet of heroin weighing 555 grams from a sugarcane field in Dugri village in the Gurdaspur district.
The police on December 6 arrested three individuals, identified as Pawanjot Singh, Major Singh, and a juvenile and seized 4.155 kg of heroin worth over INR 20 crore in the international market from their possession near Mauzewala village in Fazilka district. The heroin was reportedly smuggled from Pakistan through a drone in two 2 kg consignments on December 5.
Security agencies on December 6 arrested two unidentified smugglers and seized approximately 1 kg of heroin from their possession near Nihale Kilcha village in Ferozepur district.
The Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police, on December 4, in a joint search operation, recovered 300 grams of heroin in a plastic bottle with a ring and luminous stick attached to it on the outskirts of Rajoke village in Tarn Taran district.

Police on November 27 busted an inter-state drug smuggling racket with the arrest of three peddlers, identified as Javed alias Jaidi, Anwar Khan and his juvenile son, and seized 2.56 kg of opium and INR 16,000 drug money from their possession in Malerkotla in Malerkotla district. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the trafficking network.
Punjab Police on November 26 busted a cross-border drug smuggling racket being operated by United States (US) based smuggler Jasmit Singh alias Lucky with the arrest of two persons identified as Mohinderpal Singh and Sourav Sharma and seized 6 Kg of heroin and a car from their possession in Amritsar in Amritsar district. The arrested individuals were allegedly in direct contact with Jasmit Lucky, smuggling heroin from Pakistan and distributing it across the state.
The Border Security Force (BSF), on the intervening night of November 25-26, intercepted a drone and recovered five smaller packets of heroin weighing 5.240 kg, along with a pistol, two magazines, and 20 bullets from the outskirts of Chak Allah Baksh village in Amritsar district.
