While Police and Canadian media did not disclose their identities, community sources indicated that the victims were believed to be of Punjabi origin. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), which has taken over the investigation, confirmed that the double homicide was targeted and linked to the ongoing gang conflict in British Columbia. Both victims, residents of Surrey, were reportedly associated with organized crime networks.

An Indian-origin bookie, identified as Simranjit Singh alias Sam Canada, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as its “accountant” in Canada, was shot dead in a targeted attack in the Newton area of Surrey, Canada on May 4. Investigators were reportedly probing the possible involvement of pro-Khalistan shooters with Indian links. Soon after the killing, fugitive gangster Rohit Godara, who has split from the Bishnoi network, claimed responsibility on social media, describing the victim as a “close associate” and “main handler” of rival groups allegedly involved in match-fixing and illegal betting operations in Canada. The post also warned that others aiding rival gangs would be targeted, though Canadian authorities have not officially verified its authenticity.

On March 28, an Indian-origin man, Jasman Sekhon, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in a townhouse complex in Sullivan Heights, Surrey, Canada, in an incident suspected to be linked to organised crime. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) stated that Sekhon had prior interactions with police and was believed to be involved in the drug trade, adding that early indications suggest the killing was a targeted attack.

A 45-year-old Punjabi-origin social media influencer and activist, Nancy Grewal, known for her outspoken criticism of the Khalistan movement, was stabbed to death on the night of March 3 in LaSalle, Windsor, Ontario, Canada. No suspect has been named or arrested in connection with the incident. On social media, Grewal frequently commented on social and political issues in Punjab and had openly criticized Khalistani groups, including pro-Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Nancy Grewal’s mother, Shinderpal Kaur, speaking from Jalandhar, Punjab, on March 5, claimed that her daughter had been receiving death threats in Canada. She said Nancy was stabbed multiple times and alleged that some hardliners in Windsor had hostility towards her. Urging Canadian authorities to arrest those responsible, Kaur added that Nancy had previously survived an attack when her house was set on fire but continued to receive threats thereafter.

  January 22, 2026 A 28-year-old Indian-origin man, Dilraj Singh Gill, was shot dead in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, on the afternoon of January 22. Police said a nearby vehicle fire was linked to the shooting. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) stated that Gill was known to police and that the killing appears to be connected to the British Columbia gang conflict.
  January 9, 2026 In a targeted attack linked to an ongoing gang conflict among drug peddlers in British Columbia, a 28-year-old Canada-born Punjabi youth, identified as Navpreet Singh Dhaliwal, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the 3200 block of Siskin Drive in Abbotsford, Canada. Abbotsford Police stated that Navpreet had previously been on law enforcement's radar and was linked to the B.C. gang conflict. Dony Bal—who had earlier claimed responsibility for the murders of kabaddi promoter Rana Balachauria and sarpanch Jarmal Singh—reportedly also claimed responsibility for Navpreet's killing. Although Navpreet's family hails from Sudhar village in Ludhiana district, sources from the village stated that he rarely visited the area during his adulthood.
2025 October 27, 2025 A prominent Punjabi businessman, identified as Darshan Singh Sahsi, was shot dead outside his residence in the Ridgeview Drive area of Abbotsford, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Sahsi was reportedly about to get into his car to leave for his office in Maple Ridge when the assailants opened fire. Police suspect it to be a targeted attack. Sahsi, originally from Ludhiana, Punjab, was also the President of Canam International, a leading firm in clothing recycling. Soon after the incident, Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility in a social media post, stating that the murder was carried out following Sahsi's refusal to pay an extortion demand. The post further alleged that Sahsi was involved in a drug trafficking operation and had blocked the gang's number after refusing to pay.
  June 20, 2025 A man identified as MP Dhanoa was shot dead in a drive-by shooting at an automotive complex on Rutherford Road South in Brampton, Canada. Gangster Rohit Godara, a close aide of Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the killing via a post on Facebook, alleging that Dhanoa had refused to pay extortion money and had misbehaved during a warning call.
  June 11, 2025 A 57-year-old Punjabi-origin businessman, Satwinder Sharma, was shot dead inside his office on 84 Avenue in Surrey, Canada. The shooting occurred days after two firing incidents at properties of Punjabi businessman Satish Kumar, president of Surrey's Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, who had refused extortion demands of two million Canadian dollars. On June 11, a Facebook account under the name Goldy Dhillon, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attacks on Kumar's properties before the post was taken down.
  May 15, 2025 The Lawrence Bishnoi group claimed responsibility for the killing of Sikh businessman Harjeet Singh Dhadda in Mississauga, Canada, via a social media post. Bishnoi's aide Rohit Godara alleged Dhadda had supported Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) chief Arshdeep Singh Gill alias Arsh Dala's bail and had been warned earlier. Dhadda was shot multiple times near his office, with assailants firing around 20 rounds before fleeing. Peel Regional Police (PRP) on May 28 announced the arrest of two 21-year-old Indian-origin men, identified as Aman and Digvijay, in connection with the murder of 51-year-old Indo-Canadian businessman Harjeet Dhadda from Delta, British Columbia, Canada.
  March 3, 2025 British Columbia's Homicide Investigation Team was deployed following a targeted fatal shooting in Surrey, Canada, where 29-year-old Jaskaran Singh Minhas was found and later pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe at least two suspects were involved in the gang-related homicide and are collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and seeking public assistance.

Another person, Sarbajit Singh, is currently hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Connections between these gangsters and pro-Khalistan elements in Canada have surfaced, with reports suggesting extortion attempts aimed at affluent Indian-origin Canadians. The Edmonton police have previously linked extortions targeting affluent individuals of Indian origin to a criminal network operating from India, with investigations ongoing into multiple related incidents including arsons and firearms offences.

  September 21, 2023 A Punjabi gangster associated with Khalistani elements in Canada and wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Sukhdool Singh Gill aka Sukha Duneke, was killed on September 21, 2023 in what is believed to be an incident of inter-gang rivalry at Winnipeg in Canada's Manitoba province. Shortly after the incident, the Punjab-based Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based Goldy Brar's gang claimed responsibility for the killing in a social media post, declaring that it was in retaliation against Duneke's alleged involvement in three murders in Punjab. Duneke, had 18 criminal cases against him, including charges related to murder and extortion in India, and fled to Canada in 2017 counterfeit documents. From Canada, he was running gang activities, including an extortion racket and targeted killings, in Punjab.

According to The Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) Karanveer Singh Garcha was implicated in the activities of a gangster gang.
  June 18, 2023 Khalistani terrorist and the chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen wearing face masks in the parking lot of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, Canada, on June 18, 2023. Nijjar, was the Gurudwara's President and a prominent figure in Khalistani activities in Canada, including the Sikhs For Justice's (SFJ) referendum campaigns.
  May 28, 2023 A 28-year-old Indo-Canadian gangster, Amarpreet Samra aka Chucky was killed in Vancouver. Police believe it was a targeted killing in the ongoing gang conflict. As per reports, Samra was affiliated to the United Nations gang which is a rival of other gangs including one 'Brothers Keepers'.
2022 July 23, 2022 Gangster Maninder Dhaliwal and his friend Satinder Gill were killed in a shootout as a result of a gang war in Whistler village in Vancouver in Canada on July 23, 2022. 29 years old Meninder Dhaliwal is "Brothers Keepers" gang member. The notorious brother's keepers crew member was famous for waging gangwar and was being intricate in several inter-gang gun firings in Vancouver in recent years.
