Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice, has issued a fresh threat to disrupt the Mahakumbh, scheduled to be held in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26.
In a video, Pannun called for "Prayagraj Chalo" to oppose and "kill Hindutva ideology". He also urged his supporters to raise Khalistani and Kashmiri flags at airports in Lucknow and Prayagraj. Concluding the video, he declared, “Mahakumbh Prayagraj 2025 will become a battlefield”.
This is Pannun’s second threat, targeting the Mahakumbh within ten days. In an earlier video, he threatened to disrupt key bathing dates of the religious event, including Makar Sankranti (January 14), Mauni Amavasya (January 29), and Basant Panchami (February 3).
The Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad strongly condemned Pannun's earlier video. Speaking from Mahakumbh Nagar, Mahant Ravindra Puri, president of the Parishad, dismissed Pannun’s threats, calling him a “lunatic.”
“If this person named Pannun dares to enter our Maha Kumbh, he will be beaten and driven out. We have seen hundreds of such lunatics,” said Mahant Ravindra Puri, as quoted by PTI.
The Mahant emphasised the unity between Hindus and Sikhs, asserting that Pannun’s attempts to create division were baseless. "This is the Magh Mela, where Sikhs and Hindus are united. Pannun's attempts to instigate division are uncalled for. It is the Sikh community that has kept our Sanatan tradition alive. They have safeguarded Sanatan Dharma," he added.
The threat comes days after three Khalistani Zindabad Force militants were killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh and Punjab Police in Pilibhit.
